A French Vision
on the Water

Vogue Cafe is the French bistro of Steveston Village — a warm room of deep-red walls and wood tables in Canada’s most storied fishing village, serving the classics done properly: croques stacked on brioche, quiche baked in-house, onion soup à l’ancienne under a crust of melted cheese.

The kitchen works the old way — slow braises like our beef bourguignon and navarin d’agneau, crêpes off the pan to order, baguettes and tarts made in-house. The room works the French way too: unhurried tables, wine by the glass, and a patio strung with lights behind greenery walls.

Provenance

Good plates start with good sourcing — baguettes and pastry made in-house, BC wines from Country Vines poured beside French labels, and Barnside ales brewed just across the river in Delta.

Technique

The kitchen is rooted in classical French technique — slow braises, mother sauces, proper pastry — from bourguignon simmered in red wine to éclairs and tarts finished in-house every morning.

A bistro should feel like a pause. Coffee comes with a proper croissant, tables are never rushed, and the patio under its string lights is made for staying a while — warm, unhurried, unmistakably French.

The bar is fully licensed until midnight — French and BC wines by the glass, Kronenbourg 1664 on tap beside Barnside ales brewed across the river in Delta, and French-style cocktails built on Grey Goose, St-Germain and Grand Marnier. On a summer evening the patio, with its greenery walls and checkered tablecloths, is the closest thing to a Paris terrasse this side of the Fraser.

Brunch is served daily until 3pm. Lunch and dinner menus run through close. The bar is fully licensed until midnight, so late-evening private bookings and special-occasion dinners after 8:30pm can be arranged in advance — ask when you reserve.

Parking

Free parking on premises. Vogue Cafe has its own parking directly at the storefront, so there's no circling the village on a summer weekend.

If our stalls are full, Steveston Village has city street parking along Moncton Street, Chatham Street and No 1 Road, plus public lots near the waterfront. Weekends in July and August fill up by late morning — arrive before 11am for brunch or after 2pm for a quieter table.

Bike racks are found throughout the village core, and Steveston sits on the Richmond dyke trail and Railway Greenway cycling routes.

By Transit

Steveston Village is served by TransLink buses from Richmond–Brighouse Station, the southern terminus of the Canada Line SkyTrain. The No 1 Road corridor and Steveston Highway both have regular service into the village; the trip from Brighouse is roughly 20–25 minutes.

From downtown Vancouver, take the Canada Line to Richmond–Brighouse and transfer to a Steveston-bound bus. From YVR airport, ride the Canada Line one stop to Bridgeport and transfer to Brighouse, or take a taxi — Steveston is about 20 minutes by car from the airport.

By Car

From Vancouver (about 35–45 min): Highway 99 south through the George Massey area to Steveston Highway, then west to No 1 Road and south into the village. Or take Granville Street to the Arthur Laing Bridge and follow Russ Baker Way / No 2 Road south.

From Surrey, Delta & the Fraser Valley: Highway 99 north through the Massey Tunnel, exit at Steveston Highway and head west.

From Burnaby & New Westminster: Knight Street Bridge or Highway 91 to Westminster Highway, then south on No 1 Road or No 2 Road to the village.

The Space

Dining room: deep-red walls, wood tables and a small bar — a warm, casual bistro room rather than white-tablecloth fine dining. Dress is relaxed; come as you are.

Patio: bar-height tables at the front windows for people-watching on No 1 Road, plus a covered side patio with greenery walls and red-checkered tablecloths that works in Steveston's drizzle as well as its sunshine.

Four-legged guests: you'll find a water bowl by the door for dogs joining you on the patio.

Best Time to Come

Weekday brunch (10:30am – 3pm) is the calmest way to see us — croques, quiches and crêpes with the village still waking up.

Weekend brunch is the busiest window in Steveston; reserve, or arrive right at opening.

Late afternoon (3 – 5pm) is ideal for a glass of wine, an espresso and a sweet crêpe after walking the boardwalk.

Dinner (5 – 8:30pm) is when the Chef Signatures — beef bourguignon, navarin d'agneau, ratatouille — come into their own. Sunset over the Fraser from Garry Point is a short walk away.
