Restaurants Near Gulf of Georgia Cannery in Steveston Village

The Gulf of Georgia Cannery sits at the end of the Steveston boardwalk, where the Fraser River meets the Strait of Georgia. You finish the herring-reduction exhibit, step back onto the planks, and the question is lunch — or a late glass of wine on a patio that stays dry when the coast rolls in.
What the neighbourhood actually looks like
Moncton Street runs parallel to the water, one block back. The Cannery faces the wharf; Vogue Cafe faces No. 1 Road, two short blocks east past the parkade and the old net lofts. Between them: the boardwalk, Fisherman's Wharf selling spot prawns off the dock in July, Garry Point Park's wind-flattened pines, and a working harbour where gillnetters still tie up. Tour buses park by the Cannery gates. Locals park in the village lot behind the library and walk.
A bistro that fits the village
Vogue Cafe opened in 2024 in a heritage-style storefront with a gable roofline and "FRENCH BISTRO" painted across the front. String lights trace the eaves. Inside, deep-red walls, wood tables, a small bar, and the printed menu taped to the window — no QR codes. Two patios: bar-height tables at the front windows for a quick espresso and a croissant, and a covered side patio with greenery walls and red-checkered tablecloths that holds the rain off. A dog bowl sits by the door. Fully licensed, open daily 10:30 am – 8:30 pm, brunch until 3 pm. The liquor licence runs to midnight, so private bookings can stretch later by arrangement.
