French Breakfast & Brunch in Steveston Village

You sit down at a red-checkered table on the covered side patio, order a café au lait in a wide bowl, and watch the village wake up. That is breakfast at Vogue Cafe: French bistro staples, printed menu in the window, service from 10:30am until 3pm every day.
What the morning menu looks like
The café plates arrive on white china with a simple green salad on the side. A Croque Monsieur ($17) is European ham and melted cheese on a brioche bun; the Croque Madame ($17) adds a fried egg with a yolk that breaks gold across the top. Croque Veggie ($17) swaps the ham for sautéed spinach. Quiche Lorraine ($17) brings egg, European bacon and cheese in a buttery crust; Spinach Quiche ($17) uses spinach and Brie. Each plate is $17.
Savoury crêpes — thin buckwheat galettes — come five ways at $17 each: European ham, cheese & egg; sautéed spinach, feta, tomato & egg; beer sausage, tomato & cheese; sautéed mushroom, spinach & egg; or mushroom, beer sausage, tomato & cheese. Buckwheat gives them a nutty crispness wheat crêpes never quite reach.
Sweet crêpes ($14) are buttery wheat pancakes folded around Nutella & banana, chocolate strawberry, sugar & lemon, apple & house-made caramel, sugar butter cinnamon, or the classic Suzette flamed with orange sauce and Grand Marnier.
Pastries and the espresso bar
Butter croissants and pain au chocolat come out of the kitchen warm; you see them on the counter in the morning light. Pair one with an espresso ($4), americano ($5), latte or cappuccino ($6 each), macchiato ($4), or the iced versions. Tea (black, green, herbal) is $5. Decaf is available.
How brunch stretches into lunch
Brunch runs until 3pm, so you can slide from a galette to a French Onion Soup à l'Ancienne ($17) — beef marrow-bone broth, cheese, crouton — or a Salade de Chèvre Chaud ($17) with toasted goat-cheese baguette, tomato, raisins, almonds and mixed greens. The Charcuterie Plate ($17) lays out dry sausage, beer sausage, prosciutto, frankfurter and pickles for sharing. Baguette sandwiches ($20) on house-made bread — Parisienne, Agneau, French Onion, Poulet au Brie, Saucisson Frankfurt, or Baguette Pizza — appear on tables around noon.
The room and the patio
Heritage storefront, gable roofline, "FRENCH BISTRO" lettering, string lights. Inside: deep-red walls, wood tables, small bar. Outside: bar-height tables at the front windows, covered side patio with greenery walls and red-checkered cloths. A dog bowl sits by the door. Fully licensed — wine by the glass (6oz $11, 9oz $15), Kronenbourg 1664 on tap, cocktails at $13 if the day calls for a Kir Royale or Aperol Spritz.
