Dinner in Steveston Village — Vogue Cafe French Bistro

dinner Steveston — Vogue Cafe, Steveston Village Richmond
Vogue Cafe, Steveston Village

Steveston quiets down after the day-trippers leave, but the village still wants a proper dinner. Vogue Cafe runs a French bistro menu until 8:30 pm every night — beef bourguignon, navarin d'agneau, croque madame, savoury buckwheat crêpes — with wine by the glass and a patio that stays open late.

What the evening menu looks like

The printed menu divides into clear sections. Chef signatures at $29: beef bourguignon stewed in red wine, navarin d'agneau with seasonal vegetables, creamy mushroom chicken, ratatouille with three-colour rice. Café plates at $17: croque monsieur, croque madame, croque veggie, quiche Lorraine, spinach quiche with Brie. Savoury crêpes — thin buckwheat galettes — at $17: ham-cheese-egg, spinach-feta-tomato-egg, beer sausage-tomato-cheese, mushroom-spinach-egg, mushroom-beer sausage-tomato-cheese. Baguette sandwiches on house-made baguette at $20: Parisienne (prosciutto, European ham, cheese, butter, lettuce, tomato, pickle), agneau (roast lamb), French onion (slow-cooked beef, caramelized onions), poulet au Brie (chicken, mango, Brie), saucisson Frankfurt, baguette pizza with choice of topping. Starters at $17: French onion soup à l'ancienne on beef marrow-bone broth, salade Parisienne, salade de chèvre chaud, salade de feta, duck pâté, brie en croûte, charcuterie plate.

How the room feels at dinner

Deep-red walls, wood tables, a small bar, string lights across the heritage storefront. The covered side patio has greenery walls and red-checkered tablecloths; bar-height tables sit at the front windows. A dog bowl by the door signals the patio is dog-friendly. It's a neighbourhood bistro — warm, casual, not white-tablecloth service.

Wine pours: 6 oz $11, 9 oz $15, bottle $45. Reds — Côtes du Rhône, Merlot Pays d'Oc, Mouton Cadet Bordeaux, BC Gamay, BC Cabernet Franc. Beer: Kronenbourg 1664 and Heineken $9, Barnside Brewing (Delta BC) hazy IPA, pilsner, amber ale, Dutch red ale on tap plus flights.
