Patio Dining in Steveston Village at Vogue Cafe

Steveston Village still smells of salt and cedar when the tide turns. You park on No 1 Road, walk past the Gulf of Georgia Cannery and the boardwalk crowds, and find a red-checkered tablecloth waiting under a covered side patio with greenery walls. That is the Vogue Cafe patio — two distinct outdoor zones, fully licensed, open daily 10:30am to 8:30pm.
Two patios, one bistro
The front windows hold bar-height tables at standing height. Good for an espresso and a croissant at 10:30am, or a Kronenbourg 1664 and a charcuterie plate at 6pm. You face the street, the village hum, the occasional seagull argument.
Around the side, the covered patio sits behind greenery walls. Red-checkered cloths, wood tables, string lights overhead. The roof keeps the June drizzle off your French onion soup à l'ancienne ($17) — beef marrow-bone broth, cheese, crouton — and the late-summer sun off your crêpe Suzette ($14) with Grand Marnier orange sauce. A water bowl sits by the door; dogs settle under the tables while their people sip Côtes du Rhône by the 6oz pour ($11) or the bottle ($45).
What the kitchen sends out to the patio
Brunch runs until 3pm. Croque madame ($17) — European ham, egg, cheese, brioche, side salad — arrives hot from the salamander. Savoury crêpes ($17) are buckwheat galettes: thin, crisp at the edges, folded around sautéed mushroom, spinach, and egg, or beer sausage, tomato, and cheese. Buckwheat gives that lace-crisp texture wheat crêpes never quite manage.
Lunch and dinner pull from the same menu. Beef bourguignon ($29) — stewed beef and vegetables simmered in red wine — lands in a shallow bowl with three-colour rice. Navarin d'agneau ($29), lamb stewed with seasonal vegetables, follows the same rhythm. Creamy mushroom chicken ($29): breast sautéed, then baked in a mushroom cream sauce. Ratatouille ($29, veggie) — Provençal stewed vegetables, three-colour rice.
Baguette sandwiches ($20) on house-made baguette: Parisienne with prosciutto, European ham, cheese, butter, lettuce, tomato, pickle; French onion with slow-cooked beef and caramelized onions; poulet au Brie with sautéed chicken, fresh mango, Brie. Baguette pizza ($20) — choose spinach, lamb, chicken, beef, ham, or sausage on tomato sauce, cheese, olives.
Starters travel well to the patio. Salade Parisienne ($17) — ham, assorted cheese, greens, hard-boiled egg, mushroom, tomato. Salade de chèvre chaud ($17) — toasted goat-cheese baguette, tomato, raisins, almonds, greens. Duck pâté ($17) with toasted baguette. Brie en croûte ($17) — baked Brie in puff pastry with sun-dried tomato. Charcuterie plate ($17) — dry sausage, beer sausage, prosciutto, frankfurter, pickle.
Sweet crêpes ($14) — Nutella banana, chocolate strawberry, sugar lemon, apple caramel, sugar butter cinnamon, Suzette. Desserts ($10) made in-house: caramel chocolate tart, strawberry tart, lemon tart, éclair au chocolat, coffee éclair.
